“098” is not only Okinawa’s area code but also a badge of identity and pride. The 098 OKINAWA DAY series celebrates this island spirit, channeling Okinawa’s soul, culture, and raw energy through music that resonates across Asia.

For this special edition, Shootz, one of Okinawa’s most charismatic new-generation rappers, and RITTO, the OG of Okinawan hip-hop, will share the stage at Billboard Live TAIPEI on December 5. From island grooves to poetic flows, the voice of the southern islands will echo through Taipei — a night where audiences can truly feel the depth and spirit of Okinawan music culture.

Shootz “Island Vibes” — The New Wave of Okinawan Soul

From the sunlit coasts of Okinawa emerges Shootz, a rapper, producer, and creative force who has been redefining the island’s sound with his distinctive flow and tropical groove.

Blending mellow beats, lyrical storytelling, and the unmistakable rhythm of island life, Shootz’s music embodies the laid-back yet passionate spirit of Okinawa’s new generation. His acclaimed track “Paradise (feat. RITTO)” became an anthem of unity — a seamless fusion of old-school respect and modern island swagger.

As part of Okinawa’s next wave of hip-hop artists, Shootz carries forward the local identity while pushing its sound to global stages. His music reflects both the warmth of the islands and the sharp awareness of today’s youth — sunny on the surface, but deeply thoughtful underneath.

At Billboard Live TAIPEI, Shootz will present a special “Island Vibes Live Set”, performing with a full band for the first time in Taiwan. Expect smooth tropical beats, heartfelt lyricism, and a groove that transcends borders.

NINGEN State of Mind — The Rap Poet RITTO

Hailing from Ishigaki Island and now based in Naha, RITTO stands as the leader of Okinawa’s seminal hip-hop collective Akatsuchi, and is revered as one of the OGs of the Okinawan rap scene.

His signature track, “NINGEN State of Mind / pt-II”, remains a landmark in Japanese hip-hop — a piercing reflection on the contradictions of humanity and society. RITTO’s music carries the spirit of resistance, the weight of sorrow, and the sincerity of love. As BOSS of THA BLUE HERB once remarked, “RITTO was the first rapper who made me truly feel the vitality of life.”

Beyond Okinawa, RITTO has collaborated with leading figures such as Awich and CHOUJI, as well as Taiwan’s Miss Ko (葛仲珊) and PiNkChAiN, bridging cultures through the universal pulse of hip-hop.

This December, RITTO returns to Taiwan with a special “NINGEN State of Mind Live Set”, a raw and unfiltered performance embodying the cultural and emotional power of what it means to be human.
