A Moonlit Solo Dance for the 30th Anniversary
With the rebellious roar of "Yumemiru Shoujo ja Irarenai," she shattered the idol mold. For Nanase Aikawa, rock has never been just about anger; it is a life posture of "never-ending evolution."
Returning to the stage in Taiwan after 20 years, she brings back all the passionate memories once sealed away in our headphones. From the Inuyasha classic "Owarinai Yume" to the heart-racing intro of “Koigokoro” and "Sweet Emotion," these legendary sounds will be reawakened in the intimate setting of Billboard Live TAIPEI. This is the only overseas commemorative show for her 30th anniversary. This time, that soul-stirring impact is no longer out of reach—it blooms again under the moonlight, right before your eyes.

1. Congratulations on your 30th anniversary! Having consistently released music for three decades, how do you find balance between daily life and the high-pressure entertainment industry? And how do you continue to refine yourself through it all?
Nanase Aikawa: In my 30s, I was so busy with parenting that I couldn't find much time for music, so I was in a state of near-hiatus. However, as I reached my 40s and my children began to gain independence, I felt a strong urge that I needed music to truly be myself. At that same time, I had new encounters with people who started creating songs with me, and my passion for music reignited. Over the last three to four years, I’ve been able to produce a vast amount of music.
2. Music style often represents one's attitude toward life. As the "Rock Queen of Japan," how did you find your unique "rock frequency"? As eras change, how do you breathe new life into rock to ensure the classics endure?
Nanase Aikawa: In Japan, it has long been said that "female rock is short-lived." I used to believe that myself, but thanks to everyone's support, I’ve been able to keep singing for 30 years. In my 20s, I think I sang rock based on its sonic elements—heavy guitars, fast tempos, and so on. But as I’ve aged through my 30s and 40s to where I am now, I’ve come to believe that placing my way of life and my way of thinking onto a sound is what makes it "Nanase Aikawa’s Rock." I entered university at 45 and will graduate from graduate school this year; my six years of interaction with young people has given me great stimulation, not just academically but musically as well. Constantly putting yourself in new environments is, I believe, a vital element for any expressive artist.
3. Having achieved legendary status in the Japanese music scene, you are likely familiar with Billboard Live in Japan. How do you feel about performing at Billboard Live TAIPEI? Do you have any unforgettable Billboard stories? Are you nervous about the newly opened Taipei stage?
Nanase Aikawa: I am incredibly excited to return to Taiwan after 20 years. Moreover, it is an honor to perform in the space of Billboard, which I love so much!
4. You mentioned that this performance is themed "~MOON DANCE~," which is also one of your signature tracks. Could you reveal more about the concept behind this?
Nanase Aikawa: The "~MOON DANCE~" tour is focused on emphasizing the worldview of my ballads. It’s a relaxed space where adults can enjoy themselves, and the setlist includes my popular ballads alongside my past hits.
5. You have performed in Taiwan before, notably at the "Formoz Festival." For this return trip, are there any foods or sights you hope to revisit if you have the chance?
Nanase Aikawa: I have a lasting impression of the congee (rice porridge) I ate at a street stall being incredibly delicious, so I definitely want to eat that again!
6. As the new year begins, have you set any goals for yourself? Regarding music, are there any styles you've wanted to try but haven't yet challenged?
Nanase Aikawa: Last year I successfully performed in Brazil, and starting with this trip to Taiwan, I hope to continue working hard to gradually increase my overseas performances!
