In a quiet corner of Tokyo, under the dim lights of a late-night club, you might encounter them for the first time.
Moments later, the room is ablaze—the air charged with rhythm, precision, and pulse.

JABBERLOOP—a band composed of saxophone, trumpet, keyboard, and bass—has long transcended the boundaries of what we call “jazz.”
Their sound is a singular fusion: the elasticity of funk, the grounded groove of hip-hop, and the lush tonality of electronic music.
You recognize it immediately: “Ah—this is JABBERLOOP.”

Beginning of Life — A Journey from Kyoto to the World

Born in Kyoto’s underground club scene, JABBERLOOP grew from street-level energy into a global groove phenomenon. The turning point came in 2007, when their EP UGETSU, released on the UK label Mukatsuku Records, caught the attention of Gilles Peterson of BBC Radio Worldwide. That same year, their debut album and infinite jazz… set the foundation for their signature sound — dynamic, infectious, and genre-defying.
Their second album, CHECK THIS OUT!!, yielded the hit single “Shirokuma,” which topped Japan’s iTunes Jazz Chart. The third record, Seme Moeru, was named Best Jazz Album on iTunes Japan, solidifying their position as one of the most exciting forces in the modern jazz-fusion scene.
Recent works like CORE and WAVE continue to expand their rhythmic vocabulary, each release refining the group’s pulse-driven identity — part experiment, part evolution.

The Core of Groove — Craft and Chemistry

Each member brings a distinct identity to the ensemble.
Trumpeter MAKOTO and saxophonist DAISUKE form the twin blades of their club-jazz architecture, trading harmonies and improvisations that forge an unmistakable club vibe.
Keyboardist MELTEN (Ryo Kishimoto) serves as the group’s modern soul—his command of synth textures and electric piano sounds pulls their music away from traditional jazz timbres, infusing it with a sleek, contemporary motion.
Anchoring it all is YUKI on bass, whose solid yet flexible groove provides both weight and lift. Together, they form a unit of perfect balance—each voice distinct, yet inseparable from the whole.

Cross-Cultural Resonance — The Taiwan Connection

For many Taiwanese listeners, the name JABBERLOOP recalls their legendary 2010 collaboration with rapper Soft Lipa on the album Moonlight (月光). Fusing JABBERLOOP’s funk-jazz foundation with Soft Lipa’s poetic Mandarin flow, the record became a milestone in Taiwan’s jazz-hip-hop history — even earning a nomination for Album of the Year at the 22nd Golden Melody Awards. It remains a testament to JABBERLOOP’s ability to transcend both language and genre.

The Live Experience — Energy in Motion

To witness JABBERLOOP live is to feel your heartbeat quicken under the pull of rhythm.
Their intricate layering flows effortlessly: the steady propulsion of bass, the tense air of saxophone tones, the atmospheric architecture of the keys—all merging into a tightly woven sonic structure charged with energy.
From the first note, the listener is drawn into a kinetic trance, where sound and motion become one.
Every beat sparks like flint, and the explosive energy of their performance is born from years of shared intuition and absolute sonic control.

In their Studio Sessions, JABBERLOOP has reimagined many familiar Taiwanese classics, such as “Kiss.”
The melody instantly evokes the romantic nostalgia of the 1990s, yet within their jazz rhythm, it gains a fresh urban fluidity—a blend of warmth and modern clarity that feels both nostalgic and new.

The New Language of Contemporary Jazz

JABBERLOOP doesn’t play jazz — they redefine it. Their technical mastery forms the bedrock, while funk, hip-hop, and electronica are the wings that lift it skyward. The result is music that feels young, dynamic, and unmistakably urban — the sound of city lights and late-night trains, of sweat and pulse. Their tracks can fill a dancefloor or accompany a quiet walk home through empty streets.
Each performance feels deliberate yet spontaneous, casual yet deeply crafted — jazz reborn as an attitude, not a genre.

Music for the People

For JABBERLOOP, music exists to make people move — both physically and emotionally. Every note they play is a conversation with the city, every rhythm a reason for life to keep flowing.
Now, this wave of Tokyo groove is arriving in Taipei. As JABBERLOOP brings their unmistakable pulse to Billboard Live TAIPEI, they’re not just performing — they’re inviting the city to dance to the beat of a new jazz language.

After countless live performances and sonic experiments, JABBERLOOP has transformed rhythm into the very language of contemporary Asian urban jazz. Their sound fuses the raw, unrestrained energy of the streets with the refined sensuality of Tokyo nights, crafting a sonic landscape that is both visceral and sophisticated.

Now, they bring that pulse to Taipei—where rhythm and melody will ignite the night, leading the audience into a living, breathing musical revolution born in the moment.
