“Love is everything; and tomorrow, as well, is everything.” — Strange Reitaro, Love is Everything (愛がすべてのこと)
The first time I heard Strange Reitaro’s voice, I experienced a moment that felt irreplaceable. It was as if his voice reached out and touched the deepest corners of my heart—raw in texture, yet incredibly gentle, possessing a power so honest it felt almost cruel. Before I knew it, my soul had been tenderly rescued. In 그 moment, I realized: for the rest of my life, I will always want to hear his music.
Among the countless nights I’ve spent at Billboard Live in Japan, the "special" place in my heart has always belonged to Strange Reitaro’s annual concerts there. His voice makes you feel that life, after all, can be treated with such tenderness.
But it’s more than just his voice. When Strange Reitaro performs with his BAND, every note feels like a direct strike to the soul. It becomes a night you never want to forget. His charm isn’t just in his unique musical style; it’s in his perspective. He sings about "love that doesn't need a vow of eternity," believing that people are not the property of others. He suggests that love should be like renewing a driver's license—something to be confirmed once a year:
"This year, shall we stay together again?" That frankness and humor transform love from a shackle into a free-form dance.
He writes about "dancing" repeatedly in his songs. Not a dance to flaunt technique, but the most primal form of human communication. Before language existed, there was the body, the voice, and the essence of being to convey emotion. He says that even in the middle of a fight, if someone suddenly started dancing, the world might just come to a standstill. Strange Reitaro’s music is exactly that—a moment that makes time stop.
He also deliberately avoids defining "who this song is for." He doesn’t just write for young lovers, or for any specific gender or identity. He believes that everyone deserves to be embraced by a song. His kindness is a gentle one—it is inclusive, humble, and never condescending.
"I already possess the things that are most important to me." Friends, daily life, nights spent chatting over drinks… he says these things are everything in life. No chasing comparisons, no anxiety over rankings—just singing honestly and living honestly.
He once said: “It’s okay if you fail; after all, we started with nothing anyway. Work is important, but I also want to feel like it isn’t that important.” Because holding on too tight only keeps you trapped in places that have already ended. This light yet honest philosophy of existence permeates his music.
Perhaps that is why his voice makes people feel understood, allowed to be fragile, and tenderly embraced.
Taipei, we are about to meet the Strange Reitaro BAND.Let us dance within his music. Between the love that requires no eternal vow, and the space between this moment and tomorrow, let us quietly find our own "always."
